The Mendocino Ridge Appellation is the newest AVA in Mendocino County, though it has been the birthplace of some of California’s best Zinfandels for over a century.
In 1999 Ann Fashauer planted this vineyard on her Greenwood Road property using the famed DuPratt clone also from this region. She named the 5 acre parcel after her father Francis, paying homage to her family’s long history on the ridge. Enlisting the help of her brother Tim and a vineyard consultant, Ann has consistently produced Zinfandel packed with the spirit of the coastal ridges. The combination of head trained pruning and clonal selection result in naturally low yields of extremely intense fruit. The resulting wine is brimming with blackberry jam, blueberries, and spice, while balanced with a firm acidity typical of the appellation.
