Signal Ridge Vineyard sits at high elevation close to the Coast in the cool-climate Mendocino Ridge appellation. This is a very unique appellation consisting of the coastal ridge-top areas above 1200ft. Due to it’s location above the fog line the appellation has gained the nick-name ‘Islands in the Clouds’. The ridge top vineyards appear like islands peaking out from the maritime fog. Because of this, they are bathed in long days of sunshine, providing ample temperatures to ripen the grapes steadily, even with their proximity to the Ocean.

Phillip made this wine with a particular purpose in mind: pairing it with local seafood. Here on the coast we have friends who bring back fresh crab on their boats. Heading back to the harbor after a particularly good catch, they call-in and invite their neighbors over for a fresh-as-you-can-get crab supper. We stand around a picnic bench covered in paper-bags and crack the sweetest most succulent crab from their shells, dipping the pieces into lemon butter. This rose’s pretty pale-pink color even reminds us of sea-shells.

This super-dry rose has a champagne-like acid structure and is built for food. Full of crisp minerality, steely notes and juicy green apple, it displays flavors of watermelon and quince along with a hint of lemon zest. The alcohol is on the lower side (12.5%), which is great news for afternoon barbecues or get-togethers with friends. This refreshing, zingy rose has you going back for more. So beware - a bottle shared with friends will deplete with ease! What’s more, with the lower alcohol, you’ll find yourself contemplating opening a second.

Try this wine with oysters, rich buttery foods and also with spicy foods such as spicy barbecued shrimp.
